Thom is a native Hoosier, having grown up in northern Indiana. He attended Indiana University and graduated in 1996 with a BA in Economics and a certificate from the IU Kelley School of Business. After college, he started his financial career with Olde Financial Corporation and in 1998 he joined Smith Barney in downtown Indianapolis. In 2012, Thom successfully earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM certification. Over Thom’s 22 years with Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, he held various leadership roles with the firm and for the last 15 years, Thom was a Branch Manager where he mentored, coached, and advised both clients and financial advisors.
Thom has been married to his wife Cathy since 2002, and they have 3 children: Emma, Jack, and Claire. Thom is an avid outdoorsman that loves camping, hunting, competitive bass fishing, and gardening. He is active in the International Rotary Club, where he currently is the President-Elect and a Paul Harris fellow. He also sits on the board of the Crisis Pregnancy Center. He annually participates in ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, collecting and sorting food for Stamp out Hunger, and has had the whole family out to build beds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace. He feels that dedicating time to clients and the communities they live in is of vital importance and the key to long term successful relationships.
